St. Peter's Gate - Matt Walters

So time has reached its tireless goal
Ahead outstretched my path unfolds
Down into the depths of hell
I've seen enough I might as well

Through the circles of fire and stone
To the castle of blood and bone
Lucifer in all his power
Awaits me in my judgment hour
“Believe right now, it's not too late
I'll meet you at St. Peter's Gate”

Into the forest I begin
Where the beasts feast on skin
The brittle leaves are black not green
See the mark of St. Augustine

I meet them here, the poets in men
And the crimes for which they can't defend
They say, “Eternity can't be that bad
I've lost every love I’ve ever had”

“Believe right now it's not too late
I'll meet you at St. Peter's Gates”

To the sea, the blood of sin
We shed our rags and dive right in
And sink beneath the waves of fire
And feel our innocence expire
For I've done more wrong than I've done right
I saw the darkness devour the light
You cannot save this weary soul
Though every deep will take its toll

“Believe right now, it’s not too late
I'll meet you at St. Peter's Gates”

“How can I just accept this fate?
I'll meet you at St. Peter's Gates”

Ahead the castle's fiery moat
We're seeing all the lost souls float
Across the bridge of tangled bones
Into a world the darkness owns
